Because of this inconsistency, some students may lose some of their second language abilities simply because they arent using it every day. For a bilingual education to be effective, it must continue on throughout the career of the students who choose to participate in it. The reason behind this inconsistency is that there is a severe lack of qualified teachers who are able to handle the subject. Quality bilingual education requires a firm, patient, expert teacher who has the time on their hands to take care of all the issues that arise (OccupyTheory). Another big disadvantage of learning a second language is bilingual education being costly. Schools all across the country are struggling to keep their foreign language programs funded as is. Running a dominant language program is far cheaper than attempting to educate a minority language student. It costs much more to educate minority-language students in bilingual classes than it does run dominant-language-only programs. I saw clients at some houses that were left alone for the entire time were we at the home. I also saw people just sitting in chairs or made to take part when it was obvious that they were uncomfortable when it was obvious that the residents were not happy with the added people in th eir home. A few of the houses the staff seemed invested in the clients. There were other homes where we just sat with the residents because no one was around to supervise any interactions with the cliental. I would not be a very happy person if I saw my granddaughter in a situation like that. The new policy that says the State will now tell the homes what to make and what an adequate part is. This to me is wrong. The residents up too now had a choice in their food selections. Now they are told what to make and what to eat. These individuals are paying to live in these homes. Like an obligation, like going to the dentist. I would love to see a big brother/sister type program for the disabled or impaired. Smith observed that the inmates in the jail were always talking about their criminal successes, and that many of them seemed eager (in a surreptitious way) to share intelligence information with CO’s. Rookie Smith was excited by the possibility of collecting intelligence in the jail and passing this on to law enforcement.
